LIFE AT HERTFORD COLLEGE

College Community

No matter your interests,  you are sure to find warm, friendly, and like-minded individuals to talk and socialise with at Hertford. As a visiting participant, you will have the chance to interact with students of the college. Hertford is, at its core, not just a set of beautiful buildings, but a community, held together by common values and friendship. We invite you to be a part of the college, and truly experience what it feels like to be a member of our student community.

You will be staying in Hertford College student accommodation. All study bedrooms are comfortable and well-equipped. They include a desk, wash-basin and internet access. All accommodation buildings are secure and safe and within easy walking-distance of the classrooms. The rooms are cleaned regularly and you will be provided with towels.

At Hertford College we are very proud of our catering services. We listen very attentively to the comments of our guests and liaise with our chefs to create delicious and balanced meals.

The day begins with a traditional cooked English breakfast! We also provide cereals, yoghurts, and toast as well as tea, coffee and fruit juices. Lunch consists of a variety of hot and cold dishes, freshly prepared by our chefs. There is always a vegetarian option and we are happy to take special dietary requirements into consideration. We are sure you will enjoy the chance to sample some classic English recipes in the friendly atmosphere of our dining halls. Desserts are a specialty!

You will have the opportunity to socialise not only with Oxford students, but also with students from other top universities from all over the world. Even if your classes are taught separately, we host social events which give students from all of our partner organisations to get to know each other. This allows our students to practice their English, build confidence, make friends, and learn about other cultures.

Your RAs will organise activities for you during your stay, especially in the evenings and weekends. As Oxford students, they have extensive knowledge both of the city and the university, and are invaluable guides during your stay here. Activities range from sports' days, to museums, tours, and baking
